Yesterday, we were privileged to welcome Paul Dillon, founder of Drug and Alcohol Research and Training Australia (DARTA), and one of Australia's most respected experts in alcohol and other drug education, to St Joseph's College.
Across tailored sessions for Years 10, 11 and 12, Paul explored topics including alcohol, vaping, nicotine and other drugs, encouraging students to think critically, challenge common myths and, most importantly, look after themselves and their mates.
With an authentic, frank and engaging approach, backed by current research and real-world examples, Paul tackled some challenging topics in a way that genuinely connected with our students.

Yesterday, our Year 10 students took part in Welcome to Your Future Day, which culminated in a Pathways Expo.
Students had the opportunity to meet with representatives from a wide range of organisations, businesses and education providers, including University of Southern Queensland - Australia, TAFE Queensland, Mater Education, Australian Trade Training College RTO # 31399, Toowoomba Region, local employers and many more. It was a fantastic opportunity to ask questions, explore future pathways and discover the many possibilities available after school.
A huge thank you to all our exhibitors for generously sharing your time, knowledge and experiences, and for helping inspire our students as they look ahead with confidence.

We look forward to welcoming our current Year 8, 9 and 10 students and their families to the MacKillop Centre this evening for our Subject Selection Evening.
The evening is an opportunity to explore the subjects and pathways available for 2027, connect with our Curriculum Leaders and teachers, and gather the information needed to make informed decisions about subject selections for next year.
Families will also have the opportunity to speak with external education and training providers and learn more about School-Based Apprenticeships and traineeships, university pathways and other post-school options.

This year marks 50 years of NAIDOC Week, and we proudly acknowledge the rich cultures, histories and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and the valued place they hold within our College community.
Our College’s NAIDOC Week celebrations concluded yesterday with a community barbecue, bringing students, staff and guests together to share good food, conversation and connection.
A sincere thank you to Mr Bill Gorringe for joining us throughout the week, both as our special guest at the College's NAIDOC Week assembly and at yesterday's barbecue. We are grateful for the time, knowledge and perspectives he so generously shared with our community.

Congratulations to Rocco, Zachary and Bradley on taking the next step in their studies through School-Based Apprenticeships.
Rocco has signed up to undertake a Certificate III in Flooring Technology with Solomons Toowoomba, Zachary a Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology with Toowoomba Toyota, and Bradley a Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician with Larfield Electrical.
School-Based Apprenticeships are a fantastic way for students to gain valuable industry experience while completing their education.
