St Joseph’s College took St Thomas More Primary School Year 6 students to the next level last week. St Thomas More students visited St Joseph’s to have the opportunity of using new level technology Ozobots and the humanoid Nao Bots. Mr Rodney Spain, St Joseph’s IT Teacher, taught the Year 6’s to code using Ozobot code on paper initially to test out with an Ozobot. They then transferred their drawings into the computer using Ozoblockly. After entering the code students then programmed their Ozobot from Ozoblockly and tested out their newfound coding skills under the watchful eyes of Mr Spain, and St Thomas More teachers, Mrs O’Brien and Mrs Winters. It was a great experience for all involved, especially being able to meet NAO the programmable talking robot. It was a very positive way for our Catholic schools to connect and work together to enable student learning to be enhanced. Mr Spain ran six sessions throughout the week.
