The boys are through to the grand final next Wednesday night after a fabulous performance yesterday afternoon at Gatton against Lockyer District High School. Lockyer were top of their pool and we were placed second, so we had to travel to them to play the game. They scored after about 15 minutes into the first half and we had to play catch up for the remainder of the game.
We had plenty of opportunities to score but just couldn’t find the back of the net. Then just when time had just about elapsed we found it through their tough back line defence.
This brought us into extra 5 minutes each way with the dropping off of two players after each two minutes down to the last seven players until someone scored or time was up. It was the latter so into penalty shoot out we went.
Luckily, we came out on top 3 goals to 2.
A big thank you to Mr Holdsworth who has spent most of the lunch times coaching the boys and most of all a big thank you to the boys for travelling and especially the two year 12 boys Darcy Roche and Will Coll who played. We were grateful for their commitment. The grand final time is set down for 5.30pm at St Albans Stenner Street. The girls will play their semi-final against St Saviours on Monday afternoon at 4.00pm here at our oval for a place in the grand final as well. Fingers crossed.
