Last Wednesday, August 1st, St Joseph’s College’s 9.1 debating team took part in their Queensland Debating Quarter Final. The team was comprised of Charlotte Krautz, Samantha Krause, Aliandra Pedernal and Victoria Treves. The result was a narrow loss by one point in what was a high-quality debate over a complex topic.
These girls went above and beyond in their preparation,
beginning group meetings in the June/July holidays. On the night, they were a credit to our College in the way they spoke and argued their points. As this is only their first year of SJC debating, we applaud them on their efforts and look forward to seeing them develop their skills over the next few years.
As SJC Debating Coordinator, I would also like to thank Mr Chris Fitzpatrick and Miss Kellie-Marie Ford for guiding these students in the weeks and months past.
