This week our thoughts are very much with our Year 12 students as they finish the last week of their formal schooling. The College celebrates this important stage with a series of events beginning with the trip to Dreamworld on Monday, the Awards Night on Tuesday, PC celebration parties and Farewell Assembly on Wednesday and the Farewell Mass and Valedictory on Thursday night.
Our College focus is very much on a positive ending to formal lessons that involves the school community, staff and parents and carers. Our students have been encouraged to finish well and they have! I acknowledge the journey that parents and carers have in supporting their sons and daughters throughout schooling and in particular in Year 12. It can be a very challenging time, often tinged with sadness with the realisation that a significant time in your child’s life is coming to an end; however, a new beginning is around the corner and I wish them all the best.
A Prayer for Year 12 Students
At the end of this school term we give thanks to God:
For all the teaching and learning that have taken place in our school,
both in and out of the classroom,
For the talents and gifts that have been shared and the challenges that have been faced
For the burdens that have been lifted and the hurts that have been healed
For the respect and care that have been given.
We give thanks for the friendships that have just begun and for those that have grown.
For the faith that has been lived in our daily struggles,
For the hope that has lifted our hearts on the dark days
And for the love that has kept us going. We give thanks for the community that we are and we ask you Lord - Bless our Year 12 students as they prepare to leave St Joseph’s College: may your Spirit inspire them with confidence and calmness.
Bless our families as we prepare for our holidays, may our time together leave us with memories to cherish. Pour out your love on us that we may return renewed and refreshed to continue our journey together.
We make this prayer through Christ our Lord. Amen.
