The Heart of the College

St Joseph’s College Toowoomba is founded on the ideals and values of Blessed Edmund Rice, founder of the Christian Brothers. We believe in nurturing right relationships and recognising the dignity of all people in light of Gospel values. We aim to assist our students to grow into active young women and men.

Students at all year levels study Religious Education. This program is vital in helping young people to gain appropriate knowledge, skills and understanding of key aspects of the Catholic faith.

The Liturgical Life of the College is alive and engaging and is another key aspect of educating our young people in the Catholic faith. Major school events are celebrated in the context of prayer and include the Induction of Student Elected Leaders, Feast of St Joseph, Grandparents’ Day and the Year 12 Graduation.

Our Retreat Program is designed to provide students with opportunities to be both challenged and supported in living out their call to be fully human. The program is designed to develop within participants the skills necessary to be reflective and open. This development begins in Year 8 and is built upon each year to Year 12. A key element of this program is the provision of quality presenters at venues which enable participants to leave the everyday busyness of life and experience the sacred.

A Social Justice Program aims to offer students a variety of experiences so that they may grow in an understanding of their ability to make a difference and their responsibility to help shape a better future for the world in which they live. We aspire to live faithfully our college motto of “Serve Him in Others”.
